Meet Claire

Claire Lockwood is the owner of Sun Bear Bookkeeping, LLC. Her journey has been a winding one to get to this point, and she is grateful to be able to pursue bookkeeping as her career.

Originally from Virginia, Claire moved to California in the fall of 2014 after graduating with a BA in Music Technology from Virginia Tech in 2013. She intended to find a job as an audio engineer and found a small recording studio and production company in Hermosa Beach called Studio 637. Claire started out as a volunteer, and because of her management experience in the retail space, she combined her work experience and school training, working her way up to Studio Manager. She was also awarded an ownership stake in the company. Unfortunately, that business could not weather the ever-changing production landscape during the COVID-19 recovery years and closed its doors in early 2024.

All the new skills Claire learned during her 7+ years of managing that company could never be taken away, and instead, it planted the seed for a new career path, bookkeeping. Claire launched Sun Bear Bookkeeping in the spring of 2024. Realizing her passion for helping small business owners, Claire is excited to share her expertise with the South Bay community, Los Angeles, and the surrounding area.
